Loneliness

In this fast growing world, loneliness has become a big problem. Nowadays most of the people have to go to big cities for jobs and they have to live alone there, this is where loneliness starts.

Reasons for Loneliness

We focus on our career and run after our goals. This is a good thing. After getting a job, we can be happy with our family but we leave our personal life behind.

People get physically and mentally exhausted due to the pressure of working for long hours and achieving the goals.

Migration to big cities

Moving to big cities has become a common trend these days. But living in a new city, making new friends and staying away from family can be an emotional challenge. People start feeling lonely and the loneliness increases over time.

reason for loneliness is separation

People do not get emotional support due to the new environment and even due to work pressure and lack of time people do not get time to connect with new friends or people, due to which a strong network is not formed among people. Therefore people also feel isolated.

Impact on Mental & Physical Health

Loneliness not only causes emotional distress but also harms physical health. People can suffer from anxiety, depression and may also face stress. And it affects your work environment and even your work performance will not be good.

The Microsoft Employee’s Story

A few days ago, if you were on social media, chances are you might have seen a photo of a young boy driving an auto rickshaw wearing a Microsoft hoodie. Now, why do you think this photo went viral?

Because this is not an auto driver wearing a hoodie. The man driving the auto rickshaw is actually a Microsoft employee. You heard it right. The man in the photo is a 25-year-old Software Engineer working at Microsoft.

He lives in Silicon Valley, Bengaluru, India and he is not driving an auto to click a photo for his Instagram page. In fact, that is what he does on weekends. He also works as an auto-rickshaw driver.

Now this is an interesting and sad news too, is he not getting enough salary? Is the employee struggling to make ends meet? Or does he just like driving the auto rickshaw for fun?

None of these. Apparently, according to the citizen who shared this picture on social media, the Microsoft employee drives the auto on weekends to fight loneliness.

This guy’s post, photo, story has divided the internet into two parts. Some people are saying that it’s a good thing that the IT guy knows how to take care of his mental health.

Others are pointing out how sad the whole situation is. Despite having a good job in a reputed company, the IT guy is fighting loneliness.

But some people say that due to work pressure and working in the same field for many years, they want to do part-time jobs that are different from their regular work.

Finding Ways to Overcome Loneliness

For example, people work in bars, run radio stations, do dog walking, even work as swimming instructors or lifeguards to relieve stress.

Now, there are two reasons why I’m telling you this story. First, so that you can understand how loneliness has become a growing problem.

Second, loneliness needs to be destigmatized; this problem needs to be addressed, and there’s no need to be afraid to ask for help or do something that may seem unconventional to overcome loneliness.
